School News:
Families in the Sioux Lookout area are getting some help thanks to community partnerships
Keewatin-Patricia District School Board
Sioux Mountain Public School has partnered with the Northwestern Health Unit, the Kenora District Services Board, the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre, the Ontario Native Women’s Association, and Sioux North High School to ensure families in the Sioux Lookout community have access to emergency food and supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first big delivery was to 58 families that received a care package from Sioux Mountain. The organizations are working together to provide emergency food hampers to those in need by request. The packages will be assembled and dropped off at their door. Families in need can call 738-4671 or email [email protected] (please note that the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre is the lead organization with direct support from Sharon Dumonski, Sioux Mountain Public School’s Indigenous Family Case Worker).
