Blueberry Bingo a win for charity

Community members and visitors to town packed the upper Legion hall on August 7 for Blueberry Bingo.
The event was organised by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Sioux Looks Out For Paws animal rescue volunteers sold sandwiches and dessert items during the evening.
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary donated the profits from the early bird bingos, $1300, to Sioux Looks Out For Paws, who made another $300 in profit from their sandwich and dessert table at the bingo.
Legion Ladies Auxiliary member Sandra Lockhart shared that the rest of the profits, after paying expenses, will go to paying bursary money and also a donation to the hospital foundation.
“This summer we paid for half of the fee for six students to go to the Peace Gardens. Hopefully we will do well on the Christmas bingo and be able to continue to send students to camp. We do also have a raffle for Remembrance Day and all of those profits go to improving the surroundings for people in extended care.”
Lockhart added, “We cannot thank Sioux Looks Out for Paws enough for caring for the pets in our area which have been abandoned, neglected or left because of circumstances.......we are just trying to do our part.”
Sioux Looks Out For Paws chairperson Lynda Ducharme added, “We thank volunteers Joan Dykes, Judy Henrickson and Sherry Mamakwa. A huge thank you to the Legion Women and Sandra Lockhart for including us in this event.”
