Scouts annual tree planting event
On May 25th, 1st Sioux Lookout Scouts Group (Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts) held our annual tree planting event. Together with our families, we managed to plant 1200 jack pine trees in just a couple of hours.
Robert Auld, Maegan Ciurko, and Michelle Botham from Obishikokaang Resources Corporation took the time to come share their knowledge and expertise with us. They lead us into the Lac Seul Forest in the Wrong Road area to plant our trees. During a time of reflection we came to realize Bob has been working with the Scouts Group to facilitate this event for 27 years; a special thank you to him and his colleagues for their dedication to our program and the environment. Our Scouts learn ed about the important role trees have in our lives, the critical need for conservation, the huge impact of climate change and how we can do our part to create a better world.
This event is an annual fundraiser for our group. We were blown away yet again at the generosity and kindness of the community of Sioux Lookout. We would like to offer a wholehearted thank you to those who donated, fundraised and planted. We appreciate you all!
