Bearskin Airlines has announced it will operate a complimentary ground shuttle service between the Dryden Airport and Red Lake Airport while the Red Lake Airport is closed for construction for part of the summer.
The Red Lake Airport advised Bearskin Airlines of their intent to close the runway between June 19 and July 8.
“Full access to the airport will only be available on Tuesdays during this period and limited access will be provided after 6 p.m. on Mondays and prior to 8:00 a.m. Wednesday mornings. The first three closure periods are firm: 1st - June 19th 8 a.m. Full depth pulverization and remedial work. Open again on Monday July 24th at 6pm. 2nd – June 26th 8 a.m. First course asphalt. Open again on Monday July 1st at 6 p.m. 3rd – July 3rd 8 a.m. Top coat asphalt. Open again on Monday July 8th at 6 p.m. There may be a requirement for a 4th closure to account for any construction delays. In this case, Bearskin Airlines will extend ground shuttle service for this extended period,” a news release issued by Bearskin Airlines informed.
“During this construction period, Bearskin Airlines will operate a full Red Lake Schedule on Tuesdays, evening only service Mondays and morning only service on Wednesdays. On days that Bearskin’s regular schedule is impacted, a complimentary ground shuttle service between Dryden-Red Lake offering a minimum two frequencies weekdays as well as Sunday service will be offered,” Bearskin Airlines’ news release further clarified.
“We feel it is important to look after our loyal customers, particularly those who travel to Red Lake from NE Ontario and from points further afield like Toronto or even points in Newfoundland” commented Ron Hell, Director of Marketing and Revenue Management, “We want to mitigate the inconvenience these closures will cause locals and the many workers who commute to work at the mine.”
“Bearskin Airlines is the primary carrier serving Red Lake, offering 36 arrivals and departures weekly including connecting service with Canada’s major airlines over Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. During the periods of shutdown, flights including complimentary shuttle service can be booked using all the conventional means including calling Bearskin Airlines toll free at 1 800 465 2327, booking online at www.bearskinairlines.com or by calling any travel agency. Bearskin’s interline Eticketing agreements with Air Canada also allow for Air Canada to book passengers connecting through to Bearskin Airlines and will also include the complimentary ground shuttle service,” Bearskin Airlines’ news release concluded.
