It was a special year for Confederation College. The school celebrated its 50th anniversary, and 37th year in Sioux Lookout. The school celebrated its 50,000th graduate during the ceremony at St. Andrew’s United Church on June 20.
“It makes me incredibly proud. We’re not a huge college, which is why 50,000 graduates has taken us 50 years to do. The vast majority of those grads stay in northwestern Ontario, they work here and they contribute to this area. To make that much of a difference in northwestern Ontario, and here in Sioux Lookout, is important,” said Confederation College President Jim Madder.
For Madder, it was his last convocation as Confederation College President after seven years. He shared that it gives him chills whenever he sees the contributions of so many young people at the college.
“It’s been spectacular. It’s incredible to see the amount of young people accomplishing so many great things over the years here,” Madder concluded.
